I can't give personal experience on the internals, but I've heard from others that they are "touchy". One thing I can comment on is the externals which are very, very nice.
From personal experience, my CA X Series has treated me very nice. My ICS M4 has also treated me well, but I have not had it all that long. I love its features such as its split gear box and rotational-wheeled hop up.
Even though I have only owned it for only a month, I'd say ICS just because I've seen others run them and they love them.
KWA M4 with rails for the win. It's amazing. You'll need a new spring though.

Mine broke twice, I can't say what Steve's has been through. Darn near every KWA I have seen on the field has broken at one time or another, though I'm just lucky and mine broke in a spectacular way.
I'm not a very good estimator of BB throughput, but I'd venture a stab at 50,000 through my KWA S-System since early last fall. Hardly "broken" in <pun intended>, and I did respring it with a lighter spring (PDI 140%), and Loctited the piston head screw immediately to prevent the inevitable disaster that comes from within.
Currently I'm pleased as punch with it, and I'd even buy another one if I were in the market for one. I guess, even though I've seen the gearbox carnage with Lou's and Andrew's KWA M4s, that I'm impressed enough with mine that the good outweighs the bad. Don't think you will get away clean without some preventative maintenance though.
If you aren't a do-it-yourself airsmith, or if you have a problem paying someone to immediately tear your gun down, stay away from the KWA guns, there are guns better suited for you out there.
I would go with the kwa as well, love mine and its a great gun. Only 5-7 thousand rounds through mine though, so its still pretty fresh.

I personally recommend anything from KWA.
The KWA Sr-10 has to be my 1st choice for you. Not only does KWA have, by reputation, one of the strongest gearboxes to date, they are also reliable and will last you a good while.
The Sr-10 is light and VERY accurate. It is love!
PLUS-Evike has a 15% discount code as well.
The SR-10 will run you 328 (not including shipping)
To get the coupon just type Evike Coupon Codes in google--should be your 1st hit.

I have 3 ICS m4's. 1 of them being the M4 Pistol. They run well and are VERY easy to work IF you ever run into any trouble. If you have never had any exp doing any internal repairs ICS is the best way to learn. My 1 M4 has about 40 THOUSAND shots through it with only a piston and trigger connection failure.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience!

This is the opposite of what I have experienced and seen on the field. What guns do YOU have, other than quite obviously the SR-10? How many rounds do you have through it? Also, if their gearbox is so wonderful, why did they have to redesign it?
I can't fault KWA for their customer service, it's top notch. I just resent having to wait a year for a new gearbox. That and my gun breaking twice in 16 games.
While that's still a lot off plastic balls, that's not a whole lot compared to other people's AEG's. Discluded lollers like me that run of the middle of the field spraying as a TACTICAL distraction, some people shoot like 75-100 thousand BB's.
My KWA also broke, but after a good 2 years. After about a year and 3 months, the piston head came off of the piston, so Maverick fixed it for me. I used it heavily for the next 9 months, putting at least about 10,000 rounds through it PER GAME, and I played just about every weekend, only missing a few. I used to run a box mag in it an play a support gunner role. Eventually, it crapped out in the middle of the game, and I discovered the gearbox had cracked all the way around. So, I sold it for parts and used some spare cash to buy a custom TM M4 from Old Man. I loved that gun. It shot like a dream. Bottom line is, I think you should stay away from KWA, unless you can fix guns yourself or don't mind paying others to do so, just like others have said. If you want a gun that will last, I would recommend going to Old Man's workshop and buying one from him, that he upgraded. His guns are phenomenal. Everything he has worked on shoots incredibly good and has outstanding durability. You can get them at great prices too. If you want to buy brand new, buy a TM. I'm not sure if they have any metal body M4's, but the plastic is very nice and durable, and they are lighter than the metal guns. If you really want a metal body, you can buy one and swap it with the plastic one. But, TM will definitely last better than just about anything, and is probably the most bang for your buck as you won't be paying for replacement parts and upgrade fees very often.

If you are new to airsoft, and have the budget, a TM is in my learned opinion the way to go. This has been covered over and over and a little searching will bear that out.
Why TM? Tokyo Marui, has been making replicas the longest, they have the BEST reputation for longevity BAR NONE.
I understand that they don't have the "performance" some people thing is important but I see the low velocities required by the Japanese market as a asset for a new player that is still learning engagement distances. The over all quality in the construction of these replica make them extremely trouble free even with low maintenance, Most new players are NOT going to care for a replica properly, TMs stand this abuse very well.
They are plastic! The fact is TM plastic is very high quality and in a lot of ways it is stronger than the cheap pot "metal" replicas out there.
Clones are cheaper and perform better loller! They also self destruct faster, with performance comes entropy into destruction.
You are hearing from very experienced players here, the opinions here are their own and in a lot of ways we may not even agree with each other, one of the tenets on this forum is if you are going to make a claim about a replica or even review it you BETTER be able to support that claim. In my case I own around 30 replicas, from lots of manufactures, I started with a TM and don't regret it at all, that replica is still one of the best on my wall, and my go to replica when all else has failed.

Well, good sir, before the new version- I broke three KWA gearboxes (running them stock) within a 3 month time. (June-August) New 2Gx versions- I have seen a dramatic increase in durability. For fun, I decided to throw in an M130 into my gen 1 KWA box and one in my 2Gx and unleash hell on it.
Weather outside-about 50 degrees f. Using .3 Airsoft elites, the gen one broke within 900 rounds. Within 3000 rounds the 2Gx broke. Let me also say this was on full auto using a 9.6 intellect. (Location was my friends backyard...yes it was BYA, but the only neighbors are about 5 minutes away)
My KWA experience, I have owned two, KM4A1(G1) and SR-10 (2Gx)--neither of which I have anymore---and I have modified and fixed many.
And to the man who gave me a bad rep and negatively commented on my post--grow a pair, PM me why you have a problem, actually give who you are. Pansy.
I was going to purchase that a while back actually, but I decided to choose the Viper because I like the looks of it better! G&P is also one of the nicest gearboxes by rep as well. Their 8mm gearbox is used by Epowersportsllc to create their high powered aeg's (Oh my god they are so crazy).
You will also get a quicker trigger response with the dean connectors rather than that of a Tamiya (considering their is a higher contact of metal).
I would call them and ask about what gearbox it is (7mm or 8mm) I do not know much about this gun, but I do know a bit about G&P.
I have gotten GREAT trigger responses with my Viper (9.6v) and internals are nice.

That g&p looks pretty nice from the pictures but theres not that much info about the guns internals and externals. is there anything you can tell me about the gun that isnt mentioned on evike.com.

This portion of your post is in violation of our forum rules. Nobody cares about your rep, and if you care, it's your problem. If you can't deal with the reputation system, this forum isn't for you. I will not warn you again, so please, let it slide.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with your various KWAs. We get a lot of kids on here that order a gun and start boasting about it before it even arrives. It's good to have someone here that has some actual experience with them.
Why do you consider a gun that broke after only 3,000 rounds to have "one of the strongest gearboxes to date"? I'd expect a hell of a lot more life out of it, even pushing an M130.

Yea, I can not stand boasting brats. I apologize for the rep system note. I don't care about my rep online, it is one on one rep I am more concerned about, as in my rep in real life. Get what I'm saying?
Any who, as I said in previous post , it has one of the strongest gearboxes by reputation. I was just merely stating my experiences between the gen1 and the 2Gx.
This was also in 50 degree f. NOW, this may not be 30 degree f, but that is still a bit cold compared to the average 70-80 degree weather.
Also, the 3000 rounds was one high cap after another without rest. Constant firing.
