Calaban was writing about his adapter. It seemed worth opening up a new forum to discuss this.
It seems like a really good money saving idea. What are the PROs and CONs of this thing. I've read on Airsoft Innovations website how it works (or how it's supposed to work). Anyone have practical experience with this item?
I don't think its that much of a pain. Well sure the cans are bigger and heavier, but its so CHEAP. I mean you have to put a few drops of oil in the filler tube every few clips. Thats pretty much it. I went through a few clips this morning and it worked just the same as if I was using "Green Gas" The only thing that I don't like about using propane is that it stinks. What's good about the propane is that it comes in a much stronger vessel. I'll take thick steel over cheap tin anyday. I use 100% pure silicone oil used for my RC cars and it seems to work fine. You can get a 16 Oz can of propane for about $3.50 or less. AND ... I can get propane at Home Depot or any sporting goods store and I don't have to wait a week for my order to come in. At least you could always use the propane in a pinch if you only want to use Green Gas.
Stupid question, dont you need a gun with a metal slide when using propane? I have heard that if the slide of your pistol is not an upgraded metal slide, the extra pressure caused by the propane will blow the slide clean off or damage your gun. Is that true or not?

well that is a very difficult question, first question you need to ask yourself is what is the temperature you will be shooting in, secondly is my gun designed to take green gas or propane, that doesn't mean does it have a metal slide, because it doesn't need to have one. and lastly, how long do you want your gun to work for and at what fps.
I dont know if it's just me but all my guns started breaking down after I used the propane adapter. My mags started leaking and such.
I lube my gun and mags every 4 mags (AI reccomends every 5-8 mags). I think it's just coincidence but 3 different guns leaking is a bit odd...
I think it's worth it for $30. Just as I said before, the lubing and smell gets to you after a while. I've already got my monies worth!
edit: I voted "I don't know" due to the mag leaks and such.

Could it be that the propane tanks have a higher internal pressure than the Green Gas cans? Kinda like putting too much air in a tire? then you risk blowing out the seals and such? Thats the only thing I can think of . Every where I read you should only fill the MAG up for ~5-6 seconds. and it should be full.
I take back what I said about the propane causing leaks. Before using propane, I used Gaurder Intruder Shop Green Gas in my guns. My friends also used green gas and found that their mags leaked too. Based on this, the propane most likely did not cause the leaks but instead the Gaurder green gas did.
if you go to www.airsoftatlanta.com go to where they have the propane adapter, i believe under accesories but not 100% sure, and then their is a link to the site of the people who created it as well alot tons of info. Give that a try. From what i read its great.
I was at EAG one weekend and Graham (ESOG's CO) started a trash can fire, or at least attempted to. He had a little tiny flame going and I emptied a mag of "green gas" into it. Yeah, it might as well have been a grill 'cause that MOFKER lit up like one!! FIYA!!!!
And based on Airsoft Innovations' test, I thought "airsoft gas" is the same thing as propane. FIYA!
it is, green gas is propane!!! according to alot of companies and private tests. Some people say oh it broke my slide, well maybe green gas is just watered down propane then, because on alot of tests green gas is identical to propane.
