I don't know if the staff minds it or not, but one thing I like on airsoftnj, and feel the mods like too, is the fact that users can lock their own sale threads.
I agree this way you don't have to trouble the mods to do the work for you. But won't you have to change the forum around to make this function work? But other than that I like it.
It's really not a big deal to lock these threads. We have to read them anyway. And I'm not sure I'd want to give regular members that kind of power. I don't think it can be done on a per-original-poster basis anyway, but that's for an admin to say for sure.

I'm not personally affected by this issue, but I think it should only be allowed in the sales forums. I think it would happen too often in general discussion, that somebody might lock their thread for being on the losing side of a debate of some sort.

Of course it would only be in the sale threads.
Anyhow, just throwing an idea out there but hey, if mods don't mind, who cares. Simple. Leave it the way it is.
If the original poster in a sale thread says, "Mods, please close", or "Everything is sold", it isn't usually more than 30-60 minutes and the thread gets locked.
I don't have a problem with the Mods/Admins handling that sort of thing.
The staff has been discussing this since you brought it up. We really can't see any reason NOT to do it. I'll test it and implement it sometime this weekend.

Well, that was easy.
Members posting in either of the sales forums (Airsoft Department & Everything Else) are now allowed and encouraged to lock their own threads once the items are sold. You may also re-open a thread that you have locked if the sale falls through.
To do this, click on any thread in the Sales Department that you created. Click the "Thread Tools" drop-down at the top of every page. There you will see a new option...Moderation. The radio button under the Mod heading will either say "Close Thread" or "Open Thread" depending on whether the thread is open or closed. Since you only have one option, the radio button will always be preselected. All you have to do is click "Perform Action" and it's done.
OR, while in the appropriate FORUM, just double-click on the little envelope icon next to your thread. It toggles between closed/open
I've checked the functionality pretty thoroughly today, but if I missed something (like PMs don't work now or the forum is suddenly hot pink), post in this thread.
