I'd like to, but I'd have to get to the local gaming place first. Accursed finances, transportation problems and lack of time...hang on, why would you need a ventrilo server? I always thought that BF2 servers came with voice...
It does have voice, but the quality isnt great, and if you use ventrilo you can get ventrilo coming throught he headset, and the game sounds coming through the speakers.

its the ****. Get the 360 version though. Its very realistic squad based combat in single player. And fairly realistic multiplayer combat. The co-op missions are really fun. adn the multiplayer versues is just addicting. I'd deffinatly get it if I were you.

Its like airsoft at home. they have alot of guns so you will mostlikely find your own gun. Plus you get to play with me a Krion and everyone else. Its worth it.
how good of a pc do you need to have to run BF2 well? 'Cause my 2 pcs dont even run BF1942 without lagging drastically. thats the only reason why i never bought it for pc.
Well, im running with one gig of ram and i dont have many problems. You need to set the screen compression level or what ever it is too 1128x768 and 60hz. When i played mine it lagged like hell on 800 x 600.

this maybe that the game was designed to run off that level, and needs to go through a sort of filter to run it at 800 x 600, i had the same issue and i run at 1.5g
yeah, i play BF2 also. it's pretty fun, although there are so many players you cant possibly keep track of where another player will be at any given time. my computer doesn't have the capability to run AIM and BF2 together comfortably, and coordinating it by phone is usually difficult for me...for some wierd reason...i don't know, don't ask.
also, if anybody was wondering about system requirements, I recommend at least a Radeon Xxxx series (example X800), or a nVidia GeForce 6xxx series (example 6800), or better, depending on your screen resolution. If you use a CRT monitor (normal TV-type), you can set the resolution to 800x600 (which is a low resolution) and get by with a not-as-powerful video card. But if you wish to play at higher resolutions (e.g. 1024x768, 1128x824, 1280x1024, or 1600x1200), or you have a flat-panel LCD monitor (which have fixed natural reaolutions) you will need something better than that.
Oh, and one other thing. If you have dial-up internet, don't bother playing online; you should have high speed.
Please! Direct any computer questions to me! I would be more than happy to answer. Seriously, I could talk all day if you wanted me to.
I run HL2 on 1024x768 with medium to high graphics levels no problems, FX5200 128mb, 1gbRAM - how'd that do? Been thinking about getting BF2... still debating it as I don't have much time or energy to play comp games anymore.

Another way to find out where other players are in BF2 is to go to http://bf2s.com. Not only does it post everyones stats, it tells you where they are playing.
BF2 would be my favorite game of all time if it weren't for the C freakin 4 guys who load up everything with it and blow the s out of everthing, it really takes away from the fun. There's nothing worse than respawning, jumping into one of the vehicles, and 2 seconds later your dead cause somebody thought it would be fun to watch you blow up into a million fragments...boooo. I hope they leave C4 out of the next version.
Booby-trapping enemy vehicles is a sound tactic - deny your opponent mobility.
It's a different story, though, when I'm running around trying to get in a vehicle to get to a hot capture point, and some guy in spec ops kit is tossing C4 on the only vehicle around, and then driving it to use it as a bomb. It's an inconsiderate tactic, in my opinoin. Sure, you get a nice big one-time kill, but on the other hand, putting troops at a location would be so much better, wouldn't it?
i love BF 2, the only problem at all that i see with it is the bugginess... slowdowns, crashes etc.
but man, i love that m203... wierd using anything else than the basic assault kit
but my name on BF2 is masakarijoe, but sometimes i use my firends which is yesec9
My names were RedFiercare, thereddragonn, and TheRedFier. I still use TheRedDragonn, and he has an almost 2.0 K/D ratio... that was when I was in my prime. Once I get my normal computer up and running, I am more than happy to play with all of you!
Also, my old computer that ran BF2 was a
2.0ghz AMD processor
Radeon 8500
And 1 gig of ram. I ran it on all-low settings, but 1024x768 with visibility on high with no lag whatsoever.
would this be ok to run battlefield 2 on? im buying a computer soon. (hopefully this week)

I admin a Ranked BF2 server for TWG/DOW clan Our IP is 64.182.158.250 port 16567
we have Two ventrilo servers those Ips are spammed inserver or IM me for them.
Beware that our sever utilized AMBL (auto master ban list) to keep hacks to a minimim and auto screen shots to help admins patrol the same. There is talk of going to 24/7 jalalalalalalalbad but I am not sure yet. We do welcome guests
Ike and I were playing on an infantry-only server last night. I can tell you that there's less stress involved. no worrying about being on the business end of a chaingun or 120mm cannon, no fearing for your life because of Artillery, and especially no worrying about getting run over. It's like Op Irene, only on PC, with Virtual Bullets, and without the vehicles. I remember spawning as an MEC Spec ops guy and climbing onto a roof crowded with fellow snipers and just picking people off with My AKS-74U and a red-dot sight. Another interesting game was when Ike and I were on the road to Jalalabad map and we were in this village where fierce fighting was going on, and Every two seconds, a person was killed, then revived, only to be killed again as soon as he got up. It was hellish, it was difficult, but above all, a fun experience.

Look for Sheep Skidracer21 (it's only Skidracer21, but for some reason the "Sheep" tag comes up) and Not_Tom_Brokaw.

I've had Bf2 for PC since it first came out and play with a group of people. We have are own BF2 server and Teamspeak. Feel free to go on the Teamspeak thats up 24/7, the Ip is 70.85.137.228
1. For you guys that use Ventrillo or any other voice chat clients..uninstall and delete it!! Get Teamspeak. It is free and soo much better than other voice chat clients.
2. I used to have BF2 for PS2 but i either sold it or lost it. I want to buy it again. It was a fun game.
3. I would buy it for PC but my PC would never be able to handle it. Its runs perfectly fine, but it is almost 10 years old. The sad thing is is that a friend of mine bought a brand new computer, i think it was an Emachine, its about 2-3 years old now, and my computer RUNS better than his. Only difference is he can run newer updated applications and games and i cant. But my PC Rocks!!
4. Only PC game i play is Unreal. Not Unreal Tournament..im talking unreal from back in the day. The first ever Unreal. Came out on the market in 1994(i think '94). I play that online and servers are still active. It is rare to see 10+ year old games still active. We got players from all over the US, some from Canada, and a bunch from Europe.
5. If anyone has a PS2 or PS3 and hi speed internet, preferably dsl or cable, i recommend buying Socom: Combined Assualt. That game is AMAZING. except for the occasional glitching or lagging scrubs. but you dont see that too often in S:CA..Times have changed. So Buy IT!!!!!
Hit me up on AIM if you play any games i play or want to know anytghing else about what i said in the above statements....Apocalypze x26x
