I started building a AT-4 out of schedule 40 high pressure pvc . It will fire either 6mm Bbs or a nurf football and will be green gas powered. I am guessing it will fire around 300 FPS at best . I just wondering if a home built launcher will be aloud in play and has anyone ever built anything like this before?
Though I do remember seeing pictures of people shouldering such things, I think they may have just been scenario props. Unfortunately, my money's on them not allowing the weapon on the field, especially if the green gas is to be ignited.
As for the nerf football part, yeah, I know that "hey, it's a nerf football," but because of insurance reasons, we're not allowed to really throw anything around at the field, even smoke grenades are supposed to be tossed underhand. Weird eh?
Fires Nerf Footballs. However, I'd recommend making it fire the usual 40mm stuff that's already made and widely available for airsoft. Talk to Jared (Ethon) about foam rockets made for typical 40mm launchers.
firing 57mm nerf balls. Really don't know if that would be field legal, but we have used a foam rocket launcher in the past for demolition missions, so I'm not entirely sure. It would be a case-by-case basis sort of thing most likely, and the ammo it's firing would have to be absolutely safe to get hit with, even from short distances.

I have built a rocket launcher but all it does is fire a madbull airsoft grenade. You can see the back of it in my avatar. The only internal mechanism is a wooden trigger which pushes a small bolt. The bolt pushes the button on the back of the grenade to make it fire.
My rocket launcher is a much cruder looking version of the AT-4 although I was roughly trying to copy it.

I know this is a necropost from hell. But can i make a replica AT-4 as a prop for my build? As in just to wear around the field?

Ok, sounds good to me. Also i saw how someone said they had a madbull grenade shower launcher, if its in the safe FPS range is it legal? I wouldn't be doing that any time soon, but its nice to know.

Necroposting on the already necroposted necropost. So, if we can get a hold of a nerf launcher, we can only fire at tanks and buildings? I wonder, how does that work as a game mechanism? I know we all abide by the honor system, I'm just curious. Also, we have vehicles in big OPs?

At a previous op, we had air powered pvc launchers that we fired at the wooden tanks (at PL). Objective had to be confirmed by a liaison.
Here's a video of an airsoft AT4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-TURs4DGkM
Hopefully that will help with the ideas of making one. However, I'm glad we aren't shooting people with rocket launchers, that would just be overkill and pretty painful.
