i hate it when they post negative things about airsoft, they should post more on how airsoft help the law enforment community on improving the tactics in dealing with arm confrontations inside a school or something similar.
There are two problems with that. Good news doesn't sell as well, and there are so many frickin idiots out there who say "Oh well I know its a toy so everyone else should and it'll be OK" and WHAMMO, when they get the cops called on them they wonder frickin why.
Read up boys and girls, and listen - because these are NOT isolated incidents. If you know someone who plays in a yard or in the woods or somewhere they shouldn't be - point them RIGHT THE HELL HERE because THESE are the stories! And guess what, until people start to wise the frak up THESE articles will seal the future of airsoft. How much have you spent on your guns and gear? How would you like to have all that be gone to waste because - LOOK HEY! Airsoft is now illegal because some idiot fraking kid got an AEG from his parents and decided to play "First Blood Part 1" and assault the police station with it.
While I wish we could just depend on Darwin and let natural selection take care of the idiots who insist on playing wherever the hell they want to (And you know exactly who you are - yes I'm talking to you!), but there will be collatoral damage and they will screw it up for everyone.

I don't mean to sound cruel, but those dumb ass kids got exactly what they deserved, If your dumb enough to play with airsoft guns in public or even worse point it at a cop, then in my opinion, you deserve to be shot. Yes, its very sad, that stupid people do stupid things and not think about it.
Even with my situation getting pulled over with the gun in my trunk, I know that THE POLICE DO NOT PLAY AROUND. if you point the airsoft gun at them, THEY WILL ****ING SHOOT YOU!!! If we lost airsoft cause it was made illegal then how else would we spend our weekends. Now thats a scary thought.
Sorry didn't mean to rant, I'm just tired of all the negative media coverage demonizing our hobby. I wish we could somehow get some positive media coverage for airsoft.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am libertarian, very conservative, and would prefer to keep the government OUT of everything I can keep them out of. However, when it comes to airsoft, I'm pretty torn on the issue. I have nothing but sympathy for the cops who have deal with the idiots who just don't seem to get it, and who act like they have a God-given right to play with their airsoft guns anywhere and anytime they want to.
I really believe, that if we're lucky, airsoft won't end up banned, but will end up highly regulated. Something which I personally would not have a problem with. Don't be surprised if someday soon it is illegal for anyone under 18 to own an airsoft gun. I personally would support this.
Now, before you hit that neg-rep button, imagine this: Only people over the age of 18 may purchase or own an airsoft gun, by penalty of law. This would mean that anyone under the age of 18 is technically "borrowing" their parents replica to go play and skirmish. Any trouble the <18 person gets into is the responsibility of the replica owner, and is thus held responsible. This could mirror real licensed firearm legislation that's being pushed in many ways, forcing the owners of the replicas to ensure they are not accessible to kids and if they are, that they are being used responsibly and with supervision.
This, I could live with, especially given the choice between regulation and a total ban. Just as the one article stated, the second ammendment does not in any way cover our replicas, and they could be taken away from us very easily. The NRA won't help us, and it'll be one of those issues that no politician would touch, as there's no political capital in defending airsoft vs. appeasing the soccer moms. The only way to keep such legislation from happening is for the instances of stupidity to stop. As I've seen with my own eyes on these very forums, it doesn't look like "the stupids" are going to get it anytime soon.

Well me being a minor 14, I could live with that too. If it ment airsoft would not get banned etc. I could see maybe having to get a licence to being able to own a airsoft gun, nothing big like having to pay $200 to register it, but something like you have to do if you were to fish in certain place or whatever. And you have to get the licence registered by your parents or so that would make a lot of the parents think more before actually buying a gun.
I know those kids are wii-tards in most cases, and then people blame the cops for not being able to notice its a fake gun (which is crazy is if you know anything about airsoft). But when its all over its ALL WAYS the parents fault! Either they didnt teach there kid to be responsible or they bought there unresponsible kid a airsoft gun.
I totally agree with Noobtard, stricter regulation is a hell of alot better than banning. and also parents should be held responsible if they buy Jr. an airsoft gun and Jr. decides to do something stupid with it. oh say like take it to school. or even shooting it in his backyard where everyone can see it.
I swear some people are so stupid, Of course don't take my word or it, just read the stories above.
I do find it curious that airsoft guns are extremely accurate replicas. Aren't there are even instances where the real steel parts can be swapped onto airsoft replicas (P90 Upper receiver)?

Well the whole alien's plasma rifle may not be realistic but it does look cool. But i still wouldn't wave it around public no matter how fake or unrealistic it looks. You just don't want that kind of attention
People that misuse their airsoft guns should be dragged out in the street and shot......no but seriously they should be banned from owning airsoft guns
I think he parents should step up and just not buy the freakin things. Parents should test their kids if they can handle the responsibility of owning an airsoft gun. I have relatives who should never even be near ANY kind of weapon.
