My dad and want to start playing either this week or the week after, and we were wondering what to expect. Is there anything beside our gear that we need to bring? etc. etc..

LVP sells them. Also bring A LOT of water. Can't stress that enough after last LVP game. Also Some other important things are bug spray, and sunblock just in case.

Could I leave extra water in the car, and post-match run and get it/refill?
Sure. We recommend bringing TWO GALLONS of water in the summer months. I've gone through two gallons myself, and I've seen plenty of others do it too. It's better to err on the side of caution and bring more. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Expect to have fun!!
Don't be afraid to introduce yourself, shake some hands, check out all the gear/guns....
and don't be afraid to go ALL-OUT. Respawns are plentiful, so there's no reason to be afraid of shooting and getting HIT HIT HIT!!
Oh yeah, and pay very close attention to the safety briefing!
Expect to meet some great people, and some oddballs too. Expect to shoot and get shot at. Expect to, as was already said, go through lots of water. Expect fun, and expect a unique experience, I suppose. Aside from that, listen to the safety briefing and take it to heart, keep hydrated and well-fed, and for God's sake don't make fun of Lou's hook or eyepatch. He'll feed you to the cats, he will.

yes, I generally bring a 2L camelback for the field and then another .5-1L of whatever I want to eat my lunch with.
