So, I'm taking apart the slide on my TM G18c AEP, and as I remove the selector switch, this totally unseen little spring loaded pin pops out. Now, normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but...
- The pin was pointing upwards and away from my work table
- It was a very, very strong spring
- The pin was 1mm in diameter and apparently made of cotton candy, because it flew out of the switch and completely disappeared
Ugh! Without the pin, the selector switch flops around like a day old fish. It happened so quickly I was almost convinced that there wasn't a pin, and just a spring and my imagination. So, I begin looking, moving things around, hoping it had just flicked off and fell nearby. No luck.
So I spend an hour on my hands and knees in my unfinshed basement, scouring back and forth. No luck. Since the thing's gotta be only grams, it could have gone anywhere, bounced off of rafters, fell into the crack of a storage box, anywhere. After I gave up, I found it on the floor about 10 feet from where I was working.
If I hadn't been such a dumbass and actually looked at the manual before I took my allen wrenches to it, I would have saw it, plain as day- the spring loaded evil in the switch. Exploded view diagrams are your friends.
