Forum Rules and Posting Guidelines

Many of you have expressed an interest in posting reviews of guns, so we are going to give it a try. This forum will have several rules that our other forums do not. We are imposing more rules in this forum because we don't want reviews like "OMG, this gun is awesome! I can't wait to get it!" or "I just got it and it is awesome! I can't wait to use it!" If you want crap reviews, go somewhere else.

If you want to submit a review, you must:
  • This section is for airsoft-related reviews only. We don't care about the latest movie you saw, or your favorite band's latest release. Guns, gear, and accessories only. Good or bad experiences, we want to hear about it.
  • Write a DETAILED review. A paragraph just won't do. Tell us everything. Something that may not be important to you might be an issue for someone else. The more details you include, the better the review will be. We aren't asking you to take your gun apart and give your impressions of the anti-reversal latch spring, just put some time into your reviews.
  • Spelling and punctuation! Use them. Make your 6th grade English teacher proud! We reserve the right to edit any and all reviews for spelling and grammar. Content will never be changed, we just don't want unreadable crap.
  • ALL new threads will go through moderator approval before showing up in this forum. If your review sucks, we're not releasing it until you fix it. We do not have to agree with your review for it to be posted. We just want the original review to be done well. This will keep the crap out. Only thread creation will require approval, discussion is welcome and encouraged.
  • All reviews should include pictures of the item being reviewed. We don't care about the shipping materials, so please don't post needless pictures. Use the pictures to show pertinent details. Crappy pictures will probably cause an otherwise stellar review to be rejected.
  • Post follow-ups! If you write a review after playing with your gun the first time, let us know if it breaks in three weeks time. If it starts shooting funny, let us know. Did you change the bucking? TELL US! Details about performance (or the lack thereof) are always welcome. If your super-awesome clone gun from Mars worked great at first but broke on the third day, tell us. If it breaks at the field and you ignore it and don't post about it, one of us will.

Those are the rules. I look forward to reading your reviews.

If you want to see an example of a GREAT review, check out Jeep's review of the TSD RPK. Follow that format, and your reviews will sail through the approval process.

All,

We've had several reviews submitted in the past weeks, but none of them were any good. One was A SINGLE RUN-ON SENTENCE! Ted, yours will go up soon, just waiting on pictures.

Please don't post garbage that you put together in 3 minutes. Use the criteria above or Jeep's TSD RPK review as a guide.

Several people have had small issues posting images to go with their reviews. In response, to a PM here is a guide on how I do it.

First, in the bottom left hand corner is a little box that has your forum posting rules: click on vb code and IMG code or follow this link , there are guidelines on how to post nifty forum attachments. I however use image shack as a host. it is free, it is painfully easy to upload a image to it and whats more it uploads into a variety of different ways so it is compatible in a wide variety of forums. What is more, it give you the option of resizing images to different resolutions. I tend to use the recommendation of use on forums. Try to keep images informative and size small so you don't make users that are still on dial up or poor DSL connection hate life and you. I do not use photobucket so I really can't comment on how it is done, image shack is a altenative, happy posting

Forum rules #14 and #16 are pertinent to this photos post so I have re posted them here as a reminder.

KEEP PHOTOS TO A MINIMUM, DON'T BREAK THE TABLES

Not everyone is on a broadband connection (as just mentioned). Be considerate and keep random photos in topics to a minimum. If you do have a bunch of photos or a large photo, warn in the thread before posting. Best idea is to just make a link to the photo.

If you do post a photo, don't break the tables of the forum, keep it under 800x600.

AND NO SPAMMING!

# IMAGE LEECHING IS PROHIBITED

Leeching images from other sites is prohibited. All images in your posts must come from your own hosting. Do not steal other's bandwidth. If you wish to display an image, there are a multitude of free image hosting sites out there. At the time of this writing, photobucket.com is the favorite.
