Im not sure what or whos spring it takes for downgrades but, Im also VERY interested how well this rifle shoots.
Check out post 6 for the upgrades. APPARENTLY it is mostly compatible with VSR parts, and this is the impression I have been getting from around the internet. If this is true, well, I just cant be able to find it!
These are VSR clones and all you would need is a new spring to lower the FPS.
I don't want to be a wet blanket or anything, but the SOCOM M700's are kinda crappy guns. I know they've put a few upgraded parts in there, but just take it with a grain of salt. A UTG L96 is about the only sniper rifle you can upgrade nicely for less than $400. Any VSR style needs almost a complete overhaul on parts, which becomes very expensive.
I'm not trying to shoot down this idea or anything, but I've worked on several of the SOCOM sniper rifle's and they have poor quality control and a good number of problems.

Just to second Drew's post, I haven't hear many nice things about the Socom Gear VSR's OR the Airsoft GI parts, more specifically their sears and inner barrels.
Also, you'll probably end up wanting to change out the hopup and bucking because I'd bet they aren't shimmed, so you'll get a terrible "hook" effect. You'll also want some good barrel spacers, as it probably won't come with decent ones. Then, one of your sears will end up wearing out, and you'll throw in a replacement sear until they all wear out and you end up replacing them all or buying a Zero Trigger, then you'll want a piston with an airbrake to make it more quiet, then you'll want a teflon cylinder, and by the time you're satisfied, you'll have the entire gun changed.
I'd recommend waiting for the JG Bar-10 series to come back in stock (I recently emailed Evike and they said they have a shipment coming in, they're apparently having problems with customs), and then just upgrading it in shifts when you find the time and money.
Sorry, but you're going to have to drop in upgrades to get "good accuracy". If you don't have one yet, just buy an AEG. You will have more fun. I promise.

Completely Agree.
The ones I have worked on needed major cleaning. Everything needed to be gutted for inspection. Once its all together and tweaked though it is a nice rifle!(10 hours later).

I have multiple aegs. I own a scar-l, m16, 2 g36c, and a ak74, so I dont need any more of them. I'm just looking to get a good quality sniper for around $300. I was considering buying the echo1 ASR and upgrading it or an l96. I want 1 that feels sturdy and reliable. I have no experience using ether.
Probably your best bet is to buy a good base gun and some basic upgrades. I've yet to see a gun that's outstanding right out of the box. The ASR has exceptional range [range, not accuracy], but a lack of upgrades/replacement parts as of now. If you can find one, look into a TM VSR-10 or G-SPEC, or it's JG counterpart. They are both well made and reliable. The UTG L96 is another route as well, just a bit heavier and cumbersome. It will take a while to upgrade everything to get the gun to a point of be an efficient sniper rifle, but it's worth it when all is said and done.

what are the best quality bolt action sniper rifles for under $300? I want a good quality rifle with decent fps atleast 430fps that has good accuracy.
Search the forums some, it has come over and over and over again. However, there are really two main schools of thought on bolt actions sniper rifle replicas, The L96 and the VSR Both of which can be built to perform well, The L96 can be done a little cheaper to a point, the VSR/BAR can be built to very high levels of performance. Regardless of which you choose, to outperform a AEG on a field in accuracy and consistency you are going to have to spend some money on upgrades.
There is a BAR10 in airsoft GI's bone yard for $40 right now, (as much as I hate to give them any business) that is a screaming good deal, I would order trigger sears and a tightbore and bucking right off the get go with it. I would also encourage anyone that is new to airsoft and C3 to purchase a AEG and learn the game, the learn the fields and the learn the group that plays before you take up the expensive role of sniper. $300 will give you a start, but most upgrades gradually exceed that limit to get the performance level you will be looking for.

The G700 deff looks like a sweet gamble.
If you want a rifle that has the feel of a real rifle, grab a UTG L96. The L96 is alot heavier than some of the other sniper rifles on the market. I used a STOCK L96 for the tail end of last year shooting at about 410fps (due to a wornout spring.) I still had good range and took a good number of players out every game with the rifle being stock. A L96 is very easy to upgrade and get shooting well. Once you up your skill level as a Sniper then start doing upgrades. I have about $300 invested in the main L96 I use and shoots like a dream at about 490fps.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience!

I took your advice and looked up bar10s and found a upgraded 1 that looks like a pretty decent gun. Is it wort the price?
It looks legit, but keep in mind it's really hard to tell how a gun is going to perform just based on what he says is in there. Even with that said, if I had the money I would still consider it. It looks decent to me.
