After having my utg l96 for a few months stock I really enjoy it, but think its time to step it up another level. So here is a list of things im planning on getting and would love for you to give input/advice on what to get and what not to get.
1. Utg upgrade kit with the spring, piston, and spring guide
2. PDI hop up unit
3. I dont know what the best bucking would be so if i could get your opinion please.
4. TBB 509 or 650 -One questiont with the barrels is it silly to get a 650 over a 509 will the accuracy change that much? (i know its going to stick out the end im getting a mock suppressor)
That should be it for now. Another thing I am wondering about is how should I clean/lube internals of the gun?
I've learned this the hard way...
I bought the spring upgrade your looking at without upgrading my internals i.e. trigger assembly and sears and my trigger box exploded literally exploaded, I disassembled the gun and looked at the internals and there were pieces of stuff everywhere...
Instead of getting a tightbore and the spring upgrade get a zero trigger.... I'm looking for one now, but with the china ban and everything it's really tough getting one.
Oh and because of the china ban you can't get stock leapers parts anymore

I know that Rich has the upgrade kit with a stock trigger box and he has had NO problems with it; you just need to treat it carefully.
If you get the longer of the two barrels, you need to be made aware that your cylinder may not have enough air compression to get the BB out of the barrel prior to the piston hitting the cylinder head. Those guns are plenty accurate with a 509, so you should be fine in that aspect.
Any APS2 bucking made by Firefly or Prometheus would be a safe bet.

The UTG upgrade kit is the cheapest and easiest way to get the FPS. The Spring will put you over FPS limits on the fields. I'm using the kit in 1 of my rifles with the stock spring and hitting the 485FPS mark. That is also with a stock trigger box. Is this a fluke that it's holding together? Well 2 guns with the kit and 1 with the upgrafe spring and they are both holding together. On the Bucking I found the Madbull Blue bucking works great with the PDI hop up unit.

If guns cause crime, all of mine are defective!
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience!
Today I bought the utg upgrade kit and smacked that into my gun but when I rack back the bolt it sounds like metal on metal scraping. Is this normal? I put some silicon spray on it because it was the only thing I had but that didnt do anything. So is this normal or what do I need to do to solve this?

If I were you, I'd wipe away all that grease in the cylinder from the factory and put in some quality grease. I personally use Guarder Teflon grease, but I've heard excellent things about DOW 33 grease, which you can find at your local Lowes or Home Depot.
Make sure you get the grease anywhere that metal would be scraping against anything, and keep your cylinder well lubed to avoid wear-and-tear.
Metal to metal scraping sounds should never come from a sniper rifle.
Disassemble it again, and look for the scratches that weren't there before.
That should easily show you where the problem is.
Silicon spray isnt enough. You need Silicon Grease or like Rick said DOW 33. What you are hearing is the spring rubbing on the guiderod. Also like I said before. Your gun most likely will be shooting way hot for the fields. I would highly suggest putting in your stock spring. This will also put less stress and extend the life on the trigger box.

NO!
White lithium grease is only good for your gears, something that is a strong metal.
White lithium grease will eat away rubber and plastic, use silicon grease for this it softens the rubber lubricates it and preserves your internals http://www.yourbroadbandstore.com/pr...202516&r=CPC01 It's preety cheap too!

I went to lowes today and they didn't have any silicon grease or dow 33. Where can I get something that will do the job with out having to shop online?
I have been through thje same hassel in the past. I did find something that wrked at a Hobbie Shop that deals with Gas powered RC cars. The ONLY o-rings or seals in the cyl is on the Piston head. The sound is comming from the spring sliding down the metal guiderod. If you just pust grease on the guiderod I dont see that being a prob. I ran into the same problem when I 1st did my upgrade and had no grease. What I dd use was Vasoline until I ordered silicone a few weeks later.Back in the paintball days thats what WGP told us to run on the Auto Cockers.

I'd stay away from Vasoline since it is a petroleum product. Stick with Dow 33 (Molykote) if you can find it, or 100% silicone grease.
I also agree with that. But placeing it on the guiderod and spring ONLY doesn't allow it to get on th Piston head or CYL walls..The sound he is hearing is when it's being cocked and the spring is compressing down the rod.

So your saying a little bit of vasoline on the spring guide wouldn't hurt until I get something else to use?

I ran mine that way for a few weeks. Just dont put it on the CYL head or the oring on on the cyl. All the noise is from the coils of the spring sliding down the rod. If you come to a PL game and I'm there remind me and we can put silicon on it. Everyone agrees that you should use Silicon or Dow33. As long as your not lubing the whole bolt with it for a long period of time you'll be fine. The guiderod and spring only contact with the inside of the bolt not the oring or rubber cyl head.

I put some on and it made the noise a lot less than what it was. Now im just bagining to think thats the natural sound of the bolt being racked back and I have just never noticed it. Rich I think I remember that the last tim i saw your gun it didn't have an orange tip, how did you get it off?

One way to get it off is to stick a flat head screw driver inside the place where it meets the outer barrel and then get something that will be able to hammer it off. Im not sure if that will damage it at all but it works.
