How to make your links short.

The forum admins ask that long links be shortened. If you are not sure how to do so here is an example:

Say you want to show us the gun you want to buy and the link to the site is:
http://www.hotspotairsoft.com/hsasto...products_id/48

The link is a little to long. Instead do the following:

Code:

[url=http://www.hotspotairsoft.com/hsastore/product_info.php/cPath/21_28/products_id/48] TM P90[/url]

When typed like the example above, it will look like this: TM P90

If using vB code isn't your thing, you can always use TinyURL! It's a little web utility that will turn a long web address into a much smaller link. For example:

http://www.c3airsoft.com/showthread....hort-8310.html

is now

http://tinyurl.com/yvuj4x

And the best part is, all you have to do is add a link to your bookmarks toolbar and click it while viewing whichever site you want to shorten the URL. It's extremely handy.

Link itself is no good bro, you just copied the text of the link, The full link is:http://www. trinityairsoft .com/p-631-echo-1-g36c-aeg-airsoft-gun.aspx (I put spaces between http://www. trinityairsoft and .com so it wouldn't link-ify again).

Why are you using the code tags?

Look at the example in the first post. It's pretty easy to follow.

{url=http://yourwebsite.com}The words you want to appear as a link{/url} Just replace the { with [

I used the {s to show you how to form the code. I can't use the [s to show you because the forums would interpret it as code and you wouldn't see it.

Just follow my example using [s instead of {s, a good website, and the words you want to appear as a link. It couldn't be easier.

That's good, Patrick. You got the first half of the tag. Now you need to add the words you want to show up as a link, and close your tag.

Copy what you have above and add this next line

Click me[/url]

"click Me" are the words that will show up as your link, and the other stuff closes the tag. You always have to close the tag :)

Once you understand the formatting for the short links, you can either type all of that BBC code manually or use the little link icon in the formatting pane of the messsage/reply window. It's the little Earth icon with a chain link in front of it. What I do is this:

1) Go to the page/site I wish to link from a seperate tab or window and copy the entire URL from the "location" pane in my web browser.
2) Click the little Earth icon. Your browser may ask you if you trust the site you are on since it is trying to run a script, just answer "Temporarily allow scripts" (If applicable)
3) This will open a small window asking you for the site/page you wish to link to. Just hit "Ctrl-V" (paste) to paste in the link.
4) Click "OK" on this little window.
5) When the window closes it will automatically paste in the link you wish to post, and highlight the area of the BBC code that you change to the visible "SHORT LINK". Just type the text you wish to appear and it will replace the default text.
This might sound confusing, but it only takes about 10 seconds to do the entire link to a remote page while typing a message.
