Sounds like attempted suicide by cop. Or at least get-shot-to-get-out-of-the-army - it sucks that it was an airsoft gun that he used to do it with, because we all know the blame-the-gun morons will jump on this.

I heard this on 98 rock the other morning... I'm glad to see that this wasn't and "accidental" shooting. The guy knew the risk and put himself in a situation to get shot. While a bad thing altogether. Because Airsoft is replica weapons, every accident hurts the sport on a worldwide level. I'm hoping the Board House Wife Associations don't try to use this against us due to the fact that it was not an accident.
Re-read the story, he knew exactly what he was doing from the sound of it and WANTED the police to think it was a real weapon, at least thats how the story portrays it, which as we all know should be taken with a grain of salt.

I know alot of people that play airsoft in california. Maybe they have restrictions, but most states do. Yeah, I think it was a suicide attempt as well. Maybe the real story behind it is that the war over in Iraq is that bad, that he didn't want to go back. How knows until you have been over there.
he was at aberdeen, which is a proving ground so he probably wasnt supposed to be in iraq, they have an awesome museum, and the whole front of it is a gigantic lot with hundreds of tanks and artillery pieces.
