I'm confused how sale of airsoft guns to minors is possible. Especially since most airsoft retailers are online. Since they're online the minor needs a credit card and therefore parental permission to purchase it.

It is possible. I got a Mastercard debit card and bank account in my own name the day I turned 17, so it isn't unreasonable to believe the same could be done elsewhere.

Also, prepaid Mastercards and Visas are easy to get. People give them as gifts.
Massachusetts is one crazy state. The drivers there are terrible, and the no-fault law makes it very nerve-racking when driving; knowing some idiot can hit you and you have to pay the damages... Boston isn't too bad though, just the rest of the state.
Although, I don't understand how they can sue airsoft retailers. The websites state that if you buy something, you gotta be 18 and older. It's not their fault that kids lie about this. And if a kid gets a new airsoft gun, I think it's the parent's job to know about it too, and know what the kid is buying if he/she gets a prepaid debit card.

Hell, my Grandma gave me one for Christmas. I bought a battery and a first aid-kit with pouch via Evike. The difference between what I did though, was I had parental permission and well, didn't order a gun. I think that for many topics regarding youth though, the end result is the fault of the parents, but also of the offender.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily say you're wrong. It does seem to occur more with minors. I think we can however, agree that 100% of all airsoft-related incidents and accidents occur with idiots.

You can get a credit card in your name at almost any age if it is linked to your parents account. I've had a Visa card since I was 16 and I knew a couple kids that had credit cards at 14. I really dont see how they won this case, considering that any time I've ordered anything I have to click the "I AGREE" to all the terms and conditions. Soon its going to come down to the way Airsoft Extreme does it. You fill out and sign a waiver with proof of age before you can buy any aeg's.

I actually found this more 'sensational' and choc full of histerics...
The guns, commonly referred to as “airsoft” guns, are high powered, often semi- or fully automatic, and fire plastic pellets that can inflict serious bodily injury.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it reads to me like the lawsuits mentioned in the article are the Commonwealth of Mass. enforcing an existing law prohibiting sales to minors. Nothing was really "legislated" in this case, and I doubt there are any grounds for an appeal, unless something was procedurally incorrect.

This is interesting, I didn't know a state could actually dictate how a retailer does business when not in that state. So theoretically, someone could come to PA, buy something they're not supposed to, go home, and then when they get caught back home, the retailer will get penalized?
I have very limited knowledge of the law, but I thought "Default Judgements" were basically "if they don't fight, this is what is going to happen." sort of rulings.
My pop's a business litigator deals with corporation vs corporation cases & whatnot, I'll ask him when he gets back into town. Its actually a pretty interesting case if you look at it that way...

Actually, the company assumes the credit card user is 18+, since most credit card companies wont give minors them. Technically the minor can just use the card, pretending t be 18+. What I dont get is the parents not being responsible enough to, a) keep those things out of teen's hands, b) take the gun away, c) punish the heck outta the kid for raising the credit card bills.
Parents these days that have a kid whom do idiotic things with replica guns, imo are as irresponsible as the kid, for not knowing what he/she is doing.(Thats another topic all on its own though)
