And I know a GREAT way to cut down on all this crap with airsoft replicas. STOP selling them at WALMART!
I would say 95% of the people arrested for crimes with an airsoft replica dont even play with an organized team or league and just bought it at Walmart or another chain store for kicks.
They apparently dont care about the sport.
So why would they go through the trouble of buying a competitive replica when they can go out to the nearest chain store and buy a cheap plastic thing and go rob somebody or cause trouble.
Don't for get angry bored house wives and politicians pushing gun control laws.
Hell I feel sorry for the ***ENGLISH*** running the NRA. Its a club for people who enjoy sport shooting, either hunting or competition. They should not be held accountable for the illegal sale of firearms but they still are.
The people mentioned in these airsoft related arrests need to be prosecuted and made to do lots of community service. And if the ***ENGLISH*** involved are to young then the parent is 190% responsible and should face the penalty.
I always take news stories like this with a grain of salt - in this case, I wonder if they actually "shot at" the guy's girlfriend or if it was a tunnel vision situation and she was hit by stray fire.
Not that it really matters, the mistake was playing in an area that wasn't a sanctioned field. On these forums, I think I've read just about every excuse for playing in places other than an actual field, and the mods and admins answer the same every time - just don't do it - this is a great example for why.

Our 'practice' field isn't what you would call actually 'sanctioned' But it is private property in which we have the sole right to use. I know the owner of the business and am very good friends with his grandson and granddaughter, and he has personally given me and whomever may be playing with me permission to a section of the business's vast property. It is closed off from any surrounding homes or streets and is out of sight.
If anybody gets shot or spooked by people with Airsoft replica's they would have to be trespassing deep into they're property and would be arrested.
We only use that land for mini inter-team games, practices or just getting some trigger time in. We don't invite outsiders to it.
Doesn't matter. You're just as dead if a hunter or off duty cop shoots you, whether they are trespassing or not.
The point is that you are not expected to be in the woods, even if it is private property, with a replica gun. The whole point of these articles is to show you that people don't know the difference between airsoft and real guns. I've been around real guns for 33 years, and sometimes I can't tell the difference. I'm certainly not going to take the time to figure it out if the gun being pointed at me is a replica or not. Outside of a paintball field, there's a legal term for it -- aggravated assault. If you pointed your replica at me in ANY situation outside of playing on a paintball field, you'd get shot. Orange tip or not, it doesn't matter. If a person is reasonably certain his life is in danger, he can use deadly force to protect himself. You may be completely within your rights and complying with the law, but you are still dead. Right and dead is still dead.
Nobody here wants to see you get killed, and nobody here wants to see an innocent person accidentally kill an airsofter. Just because you haven't been looking down real steel yet doesn't mean it CAN'T happen.
I see where your coming from.
The only incident we have ever had was a (trespassing and was fined later on) kid on a 4wheeler who came up and almost hit one of our players and then they almost got into a fight.
I called the owner on my cell and he came up and dealt with the kid.
Lou hit the nail on the head. Why should you play in an unsanctioned field if the ones like poco loco or EAG have such damn nice fields?
Convenience of a free field...
Also playing on private property like SpetzGru does isn't THAT bad. Playing on public lands like the idiots in the article did is THAT bad. I full support C3s take on sanctioned field and won't argue the mater, but playing on public lands is just asking to get shot.
I have a serious problem where I live thats even worse then backyard airsofting. There is plenty of wide open forest behind me so playing in my back yard is possible. BUT, the neighbor just leased his mothers property out to some friends of his. This poor idiot has NO IDEA where his damn property line is. Considering we got a bunch of good'ol boys down here who love mixing alcohol and guns. I can walk out my back door and discipline the animals(dogs and horses) and one of those idiots could shoot me thinking I was aiming at them.
Bottom line as I said before... The few civilians you see you gear the better.
I can walk out my back door and discipline the animals(dogs and horses) and one of those idiots could shoot me thinking I was aiming at them.
I take this to mean you shoot your animals with your airsoft guns? That's just as bad as back yard airsofting, possibly worse. It's not the act of playing that's the problem, it's the display of weapons that look exceedingly realistic. This goes back to what P7hk9 said about the use of deadly force when feeling threatened.

Exactly the point I'm trying to make. You cannot be 100% certain that nobody will see you, and you can't be 100% certain that something bad won't happen. It has happened to a LOT of people in this community.
All I'm asking is that you learn from the mistakes of others and play safe. If you don't want to listen, that's fine too. Just don't look for any sympathy from me if something bad happens to you.
Dry fire spooks the dogs and a horse can hand a stock TM, especially from 100'. I have shot a cat once but that was in defence of another cat. Trust me, I never shoot animals for fun. I would be happy to use this sling shot I have here but I can't hit the broad side of a barn.
I won't deny that I used to play Backyard Airsoft, but once I played with you guys, I realized,"Hey we could get in serious Trouble if someone didn't realize this was all fake" Thats what made me stop. Shooting random people is NOT a smart thing to do, Walmart, Kmart they all need to STOP SELLING AIRSOFT GUNS. You should only be able to buy an Airsoft gun from a store Dedicated to things like that, or online. No gay superstore. That way you can help prevent retards from getting airsoft guns. Hell I got my first airsoft gun from walmart, and I was dumb as $%!# with it, however you guys taught me to be responsible with it, and now, I don't take my guns out unless I am cleaning them, or prepping for a game. *sigh*.......Stupid people....*shakes head*

Just this afternoon - 4 kids, any of them couldnt be more than 12 - were walking along the main road of one of the developments in my area.
Two had bolt actions, an l96 with what looked like an expensive scope (one of those 3-9x scopes - the clear demarcations and scope hood just screamed expensive) and what looked like a VSR 10. Another had a tacticool AK while one boy had a pistol in hand. One had a full paintball mask while the others were in goggles.
Just as I pull past them 2 cop cars came by. Next thing I heard were tire squelches and the 'bloop' of a siren.
Talk about place where you are not expected to carry weapons around. Its simply one of those regretable instances that you know will not bode well for those kids or the sport in general.

yes, the main reason in my mind that kids that age get airsoft weapons is to brandish them and to have them look like the read deal. i guess they think it looks cool when they are putting themselves and the neighborhood at risk. this is really not smart at all and they are asking for trouble.
