More Stupidity with airsoft guns

IM A SNIPER LULZ

Enjoy your criminal record. If you ask me, he got off too easy. Another asshat making sure that airsoft becomes regulated.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cops state the obvious

Tell me, what is so freaking hard to understand about this! A replica firearm that is valued for it's realism should not be played with in any situation where you can get into trouble. They should prosecute the parents for being irresponsible and allowing their kids to play in public.

It nice to know people are losing the ability to think logically, it sure makes it hard for us who are not retarded to present just means for playing the game when so many people make it look bad.

I know two 10 year olds with airsoft guns. This definately is an age who should not own them. 13+ is more reasonable.

Ive been using a BB gun since I was 5, I was so weak I couldent cock the gun and my dad would have to stand next to me and after every shot I would give it to him to cock for me, and when I was around 12 I was given a .22 Its not the age of the players but the maturity of them. There is an old saying *hehe* A child who washes his hands may eat with kings. To say that all 10-13 year olds are immature is untrue, to say that most are is however, and that is unfortunate.

i couldnt get one till i was about 14, and even then it was a clear plastic mini. Usually we just play in my backyard, which my neighbors already know about, so no problems there. As long as you dont go flaunting the gun around and removing the orange tip, you shouldn't have a problem.

Yes, but airsoft guns are made to be shooting at other players, unlike a .22 and bb gun. which are made for hunting.

true, but i still think your point of maturity factors in to the airsoft guns, because if little kids or immature kids start going around shooting random people with airsoft guns, its not too big of a step up to something more dangerous if they get access to it.

Well there is nothing we can do about that in that situation it is up to the parents to either allow or forbid the use of said weapons, I dident use the BB gun to shoot anything alive, nor did I use the .22, It was purely for fun, I loved just shooting. To say that all airsoft guns are used for the exclusive purpose of shooting others would be wrong, while it may be their main use it is not their only use. Not sure, If what im trying to say is comming out right?

Oh yeah, i understand what your saying. My friend has a pellet gun and airsoft gun, uses them only for hitting clay targets in his backyard. If anyone comes within 5 feet of him, he points the barrel in the air, very safe. And yes, the parents should have much more control over these kids, who seem to be ruining it for all of us.

Please be advised that promoting "Back Yard Airsoft" in any way is against the forum rules. This area of our forum exists to highlight examples of people getting in trouble playing in their yards or near their homes. If you aren't able to see or understand the risks, that's fine, just don't talk about it here.

Also, if you think an orange tip is going to keep the cops from shooting you, you are sorely mistaken.

well, maybe the police around here had a course or something, because one passed by us once and didnt give us a second glance when i raised the orange tip up. And i've heard the "safe" position both ways, up and down, i dont think it really makes a difference as long as its not pointing at anything living.

Yeah...ONE officer passed you. That doesnt mean another wont come by, think differently, and pull his gun on you.

yeah, that is a possibility. That's why we talked to the police officer that lives in our neighborhood. He said the place is marked as an airsoft place (not officially or anything, but the guys in his unit know that a lot of people play here). We haven't had any trouble so far, but i'd still like to find an official field somewhere around here, i don't think we have any.

By just a bit, yes i tried to go to a paintball field, but they wouldn't let us play, so we haven't actually done anything in a while...

On the subject of an orange tip, it doesn't matter. I was once pulled over for speeding and the police decided to search my vehicle. I had an airsoft pistol in my backpack(I didn't have a carrying case at the time) on the back seat. Despite the orange tip, the officers had no idea it was not a real gun until another officer arrived informed them that it was an airsoft pistol. If state troopers had trouble identifying that it was an airsoft gun when handling it then what would lead you to believe they might be any better at when they feel their life may potentiality be at risk? That question isn't aimed at anyone specific. I am just saying use your gray matter.

That is because criminals have caught on and are now putting orange tips on real guns to imply they are toys or airsoft. A general rule of thumb for Police is to assume a weapon is real until you are not holding it and he can inspect it.
Quite frankly, why would you ever have an airsoft gun in the open except at a field beats me. Backyard airsoft just poses a greater risk for all involved. A concerned neighbor, a police officer trying to get about his day, the kid down the street. If your playing backyard airsoft that concerned neighbor can call the Police (rightfully so if your holding a replica weapon). Anything can happen in Backyard Airsoft and that's why it's better to play on a sanctioned field.

Also, after 9/11 the way some people view the world has changed. In the past a nosy neighbor would call the police and complain about kids with bb guns in the woods. Now, their report to police may go along the lines of terrorists are invading. Sounds ridiculous but it has happened.

uhh yea... last time I checked, backyard airsoft isn't using an airsoft gun maturely.

PS...Its maturely, not "maturaly"
