My AEGs flash hider....

I just bought an ICS M&P 15. The flash hider is not only neon orange (of course), but has a medium sized piece broken off. It was like this when I bought it (I assume, since I did nothing that would have broken it). It appears to be glued on, but the thing is there's a rivet-type metal thingy holding it on. I have 2 questions:

1. How can I get it off?
2. Can I get one to replace it that isn't orange that will fit this gun?

I'm such a noob.

I'm not sure what a navy style flash hider is in comparison to others is, but here's what it looks like (not mine but this is the style):

Except it has horizontal lines on it.

If it is a regular style flash hider I would find out if ICS is chinesse if it is get vice grips and turn to right. But if not chineese then lefty loosy. On the bottom there should be a small hole for an allen key.

Ya there should be a spot on bottom of flash hider that a small allen key fits in.

It doesn't have an allen key hole it;s just flat and round. I'll get a pic up as soon as I can in case that helps.

Ok this is not the best idea but i have done it and it works. I stick a metal scure or a thin knife though the openings in the flash hider and stick it across and turn. It most likely glued.

I know its glued i can see a thin glaze sticking out but theres this rivet and i think itll hold it in or id hairdry it and soften the glue and just pull it off.

I only want it off if i can replace it with a normal flash hider.

Is the rivet at the bottom of the flash hider?

I have a full metal stag 15. I broke the little screw and put a black metal flash hider on. I just turned it and it broke off and then I put the metal one on and everything was fine.

The chunk that is missing is supposed to be missing since some REAL STEEL flash hiders have a built in wire cutter which is what yours is replicating. to remove it you will need to get a heat gun or a good hair dryer to melt the glue.

Thanks! I'll just melt the glue and see, since maybe this small metal thingy won't be an issue.
