OP Pine Plains IV, 14-16 May 2010, Ft Drum, NY

Fort Drum has approved 14-16 May 2010 for Operation Pine Plains IV!

This will be the only Operation Pine Plains event held at Fort Drum during 2010.

Registration will open in March 2010. Pathfinders and OPP Veterans will be given the opportunity to register first and then open registration will begin.

Please visit the official OPP website at http://oppineplains.com

There is a large group on the MAAPR forums that is forming. We may have three squads (33 ***ENGLISH***) or more. We have a couple from PA that are coming, and would love it if more could attend!

http://www.maapr.com/phpbb2/viewtopi...=144383#144383

This is a true MILSIM event, and at OPP, you operate in squads--no lone wolf, and no individual respawns (squads have to withdraw and resupply.) I am also going to try to get an MSAT Squad Tactics class in before this (April time frame) but having a little difficulty getting a PB Field in MD (it's funny - they seem to be having money trouble!)

Yes, 18, set in stone by the Army. They haven't been willing to budge, and we even have a father and son (son is 17) that want to go together, too!

I know I will be going to this. It will be my 3rd one. I have almost a full squad going up but I could always use one or two. Also if anyone from the area would like to carpool just send me a pm and we can try to work something out.

We are checking into a bus charter but don't know if having the bus driver sit around for two days will make it too expensive. We would be coming right up 83 and then 81 if we do the charter, so we could certainly make a stop in PA if the cost works out.

This looks absolutely incredible, Ive been looking over the details for the past 30 minutes. Obviously I am extremely ill-prepared for an event like this but I was wondering how one goes about training for this? Are there places or skirmish grounds where you can be taught how the tactics and specific game rules? If all Ive ever done was play outback airsoft with a group of friends, how do I advance to the next level like this?

I am organizing an MSATO Squad Tactics Class. It will probably be in March or April here in Maryland. It is run by the organizers of OP Pine Plains. No word on their availability yet, but I will let you know.

It covers using the 11 man squad with two fire teams. Movement, cover, ambushes, reacting to an ambush, etc. They also teach a MOUT class, but I am not sure if we have a MOUT facility, except for Airsoft CQB in Manassas, VA, which is quite a drive even for me.

Most of your questions can be answered by checking the forums on the site. The two most important things you can do to prepare for this is do some research on the forums about gear and start running(or some other form of physical activity) to build up your legs. Ive seen from both times I've been guy who try to carry way too much stuff cause its "tacticool" or they might need it and they tire themselves out.

As far as training tactics go play a few games at the warhouse. There is also a last minute training session before the event where you can run drills with your squad. To take your game to the "next level" go the the event and give it your best. Watch the more experienced guys. The whole game is centered around your squad there are no individuals so someone will always be there to help you out.

Really it boils down to checking the forums on the site and talking to guys who have been there. If you have more questions feel free to PM me.

A charter bus would run $80 to $110, depending on the number of people. If C3 can bring a squad, the we would have 35 people so far including MAAPR, and will probably get a few more. We can charter a 47 passenger coach with a bathroom. We would leave Columbia, MD and then can stop in Harrisburg. I don't know if that is the closest, and it can change as long as it's along 83 or 81. The bus would then pick up anyone on Friday to go to a hotel, and bring back on Saturday morning.

Is there a squad from the C3 group going up to Pine Plains IV? Or has everyone registered on the MAAPR forum? The reason that I ask, is that I will be registering the 3 squads we have and was wondering if you guys know about the updated squad registration procedure?

As KCustomWa has stated, we have about a full squad going up from West Chester PA. We are looking to possubly pick up a person or two since we may not have a full squad. I know the West Chester Commandos will be practicing for this event with great detail focused on the CQB tactics. This OP is incredible and there will be some heavy hitters there that will force you to play your best at all times. If you are looking for a squad to run with and have the ability to commit to practices before going up, send a PM to KCustomWa and/or jcbuddy.

We do have two extra people who don't have squad assignments from MAAPR. I can point them to the C3 site. The squad discount is applicable only to full 11-member squads that register, so if you don't have 11, that may work out great.
