I wanna try to paint my B.A.R.-10 in woodland camo, but im too afraid to do it because whenever i try to customize any of my airsoft guns, they end up breaking or looking bad . And tips?
Its all time and patience. One of my biggest problems is waiting for paint to dry. It takes SO long. The BAR-10 you see there took me 2 days to finish (6 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear-coat)
IMO the easiest and most time efficient way to spraying a good paint job is to freehand it.
- First you start with a dark base coat (ultra flat black is what I use). This will provide you with a solid platform to build off of and will make the other flat colors, like green and brown, pop out more; making it look like less of a big mush of color.
-Then, once you have your base, I usually either "dust" a coat on over top as seen here: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80.../vsrscoped.jpg
and then just freehand light tiger stripes. (hold down nozzle and swipe quickly across the gun at about 5 inches distance)
- After the stripes, you can once again dust over it with a desired color to make it blend in well. Thats kinda what I did when I painted my old VSR for a desert sand look.
It just takes time and practice. Just get a old piece of 2X4 and practice on that until you feel comfortable. The key is finding the right distance to hold the spray; too close and the paint runs, too far and you don't paint the object and end up waisting paint. I found that usually about 10-12 inches away is perfect for more spray cans.
Now, I am by NO MEANS an expert. The BAR-10 was my first attempt at something like that, I was lucky it came out halfway decent. So all you expert painters out there, please feel free to correct what I have said, I'm always looking to improve.
Rubbing alcohol took the paint off my new GBB after the lighter fluid would not.
Just let it sit on the paint a min and it will wipe off. I do not think that it can hurt plastic.

I need some help. I just finished painting my other sniper and I did such a horrible job. Theres globs of paint that can smear and everything. AHH. Is there anyway I can just remove the paint back to the original color?
im thinking about painting my gun and mask to a camo color, i just need to know for added effects would brown or green string/yarn make a good grass effect?
it's good to have an orange tip. keep it on it doesn't effect it to bad. (mine broke/shattered after hitting a rock)

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. I've never seen an orange tip on the field, and a lot of people leave them alone.
I actually would have left my last one alone, but it was hot pink. Clashed with my purse
Wow, Lou... Wow.
If you paint your gun over and "accidentally" paint the flash hider, oh well! That's what I did and my dad didn't care. But really, it doesn't matter at all. I was in a back yard fight long before i joined this forum during the fall (this was before i painted my gun too) and my friends all thought my orange tip was a part of a leaf. So in some cases, it may help!
There is no law in PA that says you have to have an orange tip. However, if you cross state lines, you MAY be violating the laws of another state, and if you sell the gun, you MUST have an orange tip.
There are many ways to camouflage your gun. Pretty much anything you do to break up the pattern of the gun will work. Just use stuff in woodland colors and you should be fine.
Well guys, here is my newest paint job on an actual gun.

I'm looking for suggestions here. My G18c is desperately needing a paint job (Kim Possible theme). What colors should I be looking at here? I figured the base layer would be black (Luckily the CM030 comes in black already!), with pink, purple, and lime green on it. Any other color suggestions for a Kim Possible paint job, or suggestions for the over-all design.
Thanks,
-Jeremy

hehe, I personally like that paint job. From the looks of it, you used a glossy paint;correct?

Well done. Nice job breaking it up with only two colors. Not too heavy, not too light.

freakboy, If you look at the shotgun I painted, that pattern breaks up the gun nicely. Its designed to create shadows at hard lines and noticeable angles.
An easier camo for good breakage would be pfcstone's and fakeprogress's stripes. Starting with base coat of khaki (i believe), then lightly " dusting" stripes. This give's the guns shadows.

I'm planning on painting a hong kong replica CIRAS (two actually - one's too light tan, the other's a too dark coyote brown, or so i believe.). I'm going to use Krylon Kamo Khaki. Anything I should be worrying about?
/hi, yes, i'm still alive
//After Otakon passes, I should be on here more often
ike, are you just planning on painting them khaki? If so, to get a good finish, "dust" your whole gun with khaki to make sure your gun is nice and clean. If it bubbles or looks like its cracking, then you didn't clean your gun well enough. If all looks good, continue painting multiple coats until you get the nice solid look you want.

He's painting his CIRAS, not his gun.
Ike, you'd be better off dying the fabric. Painting it is going to look like ass.

Sorry, was too early for me and missed that whole CIRAS part.
Whether you paint it or dye it, it is going to be HARD to go from a dark color to a light color and make it look good. You should be able to darken up your tan CIRAS easily though.

I painted my CM030 bi-tone since the regular black on black was just a little to boring for me. I wish I'd have taken a before picture, but alas...so here is the after. Taken with my phone so the quality isn't tremendous. If you want to see some more pictures of it let me know! Looking to paint my springer M4 next for some practice.
It will come out all...splotchy( I guess that's what ill call it.). The paint will just get absorbed and will make it all stiff and dry. However, I have seen fabric paint for car upholstry. I don't have experience with it and I still have my doubts about it.

Ive seen painted gear work out ok. it wont look nice and new anymore, but it will look ok. just use LIGHT coats, and try not to get it too thick on any surface, that will keep it flexible.
i have a bad case of "wtf do i do with my first AEG i bought".
well the first thing i should say is that i bought some AK/dragonov type thing of shorty about a year and a half ago and now that i have the perfect setup i didn't know what to do with this old **** I enjoy licking my toilet, AEG, so i made a monster. i first chopped most of the fake long barrel off and taped/spray painted the whole thing silver. now i am currently using my master foam crafting/LED light skills to make a foam chainsaw to place at the bottom of the forgrip (kinda like the lancer from gears of war) with fully functioning chainsaw sounds and i am now currently in the process of doing a full paintjob and finishing touches.
tell me what you think of my idea and i will post pics soon.
i work as a foam crafter in RL working for a playsafe sword making company for kids. the foam can take almost anything. i will have pics up soon, i am still crafting the blade.
Hmmm, wish I knew that before I used alcohol to try take the pain off myG36's handle, but I will remember that in the future, thanks Sum, I also play Warhammer and Warhammer 40K.
