There hasn't been a news topic in a while, but i just found out about this the other day. It doesn't apply to us of course, not yet, and hopefully not ever, but i found it quite interesting.
On January 10th, the government of the Philippines ordered a nationwide gun ban, what they like to call an "election gun ban" that will go until June 9th, restricting gun owners from bringing their firearms out of their residences. Which they claim is to curb and prevent election related violence. Apparently, this is common practice there.
As if that isn't enough, they are setting up checkpoints and arresting anyone in possesion of airsoft guns, replica guns, bladed "weapons", etc. Because everyone knows how many politicians are killed with toys and knives. http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/238601...omelec-gun-ban
All i can say is thank god this is America, and we still have our constitution.
Wait... is that supposed to be violating the second amendment? They were removing her from her home because of the mandatory evacuation, and she was tackled because she was waving a firearm at people.
I was just being thankful we havn't yet completely de-evolved into the orwellian nightmare that is the united kingdom, for example.
Believe me, I could go on all day about the crooks and traitors who have taken over washington, who serve only corporate interests and piss all over the american people and laugh about it. But i'm still confident we'll take it back.

the tackling of a 80lb 80 year old is excessive. knowing where this will end up going i'm not going to argue my views over a forum.

as always, take footage from a news broadcast with a grain of salt. They are edited to incite emotion and want you to jump to conclusions. Regardless of what side of the subject you sit on.
I'm 100% positive there was more going on there than what we were shown
that's my point. There doesn't exist anything more than 2 seconds clips or "highlight reels". So you won't find anything on how they arrived at the decision.
For all you know, that woman tried to shoot the cops before they tackled her. Or they could've all just slipped on some ketchup. Who the hell knows, cause all we see is the fall.
I'm not talking about the old lady. Only a nitwit would let the cops into her house while holding a pistol. I'm talking about the rest of the citizens that had lawfully owned firearms confiscated.

80 pounds. 300 pounds. The wielder of a gun is still wielding a gun. The weight of the person does not effect the power of the gun. It will kill you.
I'm not saying I justify what happened, as Randy said, we were not given the whole story. So who knows precisely what may have happened. But knowing how the media loves to give Law Enforcement negative light...it's fairly possible their actions were justified. They usually are with rare exception.

Watch the first two minutes of this video and then ask yourself if what they did was really necessary. I think they were way out of line, the gun could have just as easily been snatched out of her hand without all the brutality. Just look at her, she probably has the reaction time of a dead mouse.
Unfortunately they've been ****ting on the constitution long enough now, young americans have been conditioned to think stasi tactics such as this are perfectly acceptable.
Don't ever forget the principles this country was founded on and why they are so important. One day you could be the star of a video just like this.
