During the course of the day, PL Jeff discussed several old safety issues and one new one with me. They are as follows:
EYEWEAR - All eyewear must conform to ANSI specs and form a full seal on your face. HOWEVER, the small Wiley-X type goggles that seal directly around the wearer's eyes will no longer be allowed when we are sharing the facility with paintballers. If you are unsure if your eyewear is aproved, please ask PL Jeff - he has the final say on what is allowed at his facility. The only exception to this rule is in the case of airsoft events, or when there are no paintballers present. Then, only the ANSI and full-seal requirements are in effect. You may NEVER play at PL with eyewear that do not meet ANSI requirements or do not form a full seal around your eyes.
BARREL SOCKS - Barrel socks MUST be placed on all guns that are not in cases while in the safe zone. Handguns must be holstered with the magazine removed. ADDITIONALLY, the barrel sock must remain on your gun while walking to or from the designated playing field. Players may test fire their weapons only while at the firing range or on the designated playing field. Players must remove their magazines and clear their weapons prior to leaving the designated playing field. We are not allowed to fire our weapons while on the road to or from the field. The only exceptions to this rule are in the case of airsoft events, or when there are no paintballers present.
MAGAZINES - Mags must be removed in the safe zone. No exceptions.
DRY FIRING - Dry firing is NOT allowed in the safe zone - even with the magazine out and a barrel sock in place. If you want to test your gun, go to the firing range. No exceptions.
Please read and follow these rules. If you have any questions, feel free to post in this thread.
Thanks to new insurance regulations, players UNDER 18 years of age (that's 17 and under) will be required to wear full face protection when playing at Poco Loco. Balacavas, recon-wraps, and shemaghs ARE considered full face protection.
So, let's recap:
Players 17 and under MUST wear a full paintball mask, ORfull-sealing goggles combined with a balacava, recon-wrap, or shemagh. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS AT ANY TIME - EVENTS INCLUDED.
While this might be a pain in the short term I think it is really encouraging that both C3 and our primary playing field are taking the lead in being the safest airsoft venue available.
That sounds like a good idea to me, but that is making me believe that sooner or later we will all have to wear full face protection as well....
we had a discussion about this on sat and our neighbors are moving in this direction

That makes me pissed having to wear a full mask. :x I can't even breathe well with a paintall mask on, and I haven't even played in any real heat yet. I can't believe this new rule.

Let's go to the photos! Isn't THIS you? I thought so. Wear your PB mask and shut your pie-hole
The rules are because of insurance companies. Hate them for making the world safer due to greed.
I think it's a good idea. Sure, headshots don't happen very often (in my experience anyway) but we might as well play safe and keep any orifices protected in the event of it happening - especially for the young'uns. I felt a little naked without my PASGT helmet (which provides some degree of ear protection) during the swamp mission last saturday because I was worried about a round getting in my ear (apparently it happened in paintball, or so I was told by the guy who runs the paintball booth at French Creek)
Face shots hurt and anything that can provide some protection is good. People have lost teeth in airsoft by taking shots to the mouth. Heck, I got zapped with a stock TM in the mouth and spat blood for a good 20 minutes. I think its a good idea for the younger ones. They need all their teeth. :)

I dont see the point in making players wear full face protection, we all sign liability waivers, so what does insurance company have to worry about? it should be the players choice wether they want to keep thier teeth or not. thats just my opinion.

This is not for all players, only minors. Adults will have a new waiver that states that we have been advised of the danger and are electing not to wear full face protection. Minors are the property of the state in a comonwealth. Their parents are responsible for them, but they are not legally allowed to waive PL from liability.
P7hk9, I just turned 18 March and I haven't been to a game since...(becuase of my gun)is there a big change of the waiver, and also can we download it from the PL site ahead of time?

My only beef with this is that some aspiring young snipers are goining to get lit up because they have no peripheral vision and they can't put their face near the scope to snipe anyone without knocking off their mask. On the bright side, those who have AEGs are going to look like something out of starwars :)
get a scope with eye relief, I use two types of scopes when I play. One is the trijicon acog, i can see fine, and i use glasses with goggles. the other is on my tanaka acis, which isn't an expensive scope at all and yet i still and in the green zone for the scope. as for peripheral vision, that shouldn't be a problem.
Smith OTG goggles will no longer be allowed at PL when there are paintballers on the field. PL Jeff tested a set, and blew the lens out of the frame with a paintball gun. Players with questions about approved eyewear should ask PL Jeff at the field.
Though this decision will cause problems for some players IT IS FOR YOUR SAFETY.
Smith OTGs will be allowed when there are no paintballers on the field, and at all airsoft events.
After looking at how the Smiths in question are constructed, my extremely unedjumicated opinion is that it has to do with the way the goggles are constructed - the Smiths didn't secure the lense well enough to distribute the force adiquately without dislodging the lense.
Again, just idle observation - but that is my best guess.

All goggles hold the lens in pretty much the same way. The lens on the Smiths was less than 1mm thick, so I wouldn't be surprised if it flexed right out of the frame.
You can wear a paintball mask, yes, but they have to be ANSI Z8.1 rated or something like that, ask Lou about them thats P7hk9. Send him a picture of your goggles and he'll let you know. I wear these http://www.goggleoverstock.com/index.html
They get moisture in them, but for $20 they work great.

Anything that's approved for paintball will be allowed. But, since you are under 18, you have to wear full face protection. Either a paintball mask, OR goggles AND a balaclava, shemagh, or recon-wrap. Your nose, mouth, and ears must be covered.
Say "I" showed up with a set of acceptable goggles and a baclava, but then midgame "I" got hot or out of breath and "I" pulled it down a bit to expose my face. I would get flak for that wouldnt "I"?
"You" really shouldn't pull "Your" face protection off for "anything", but "we" wouldn't "want" to see "you" pass out or "anything" from "not" getting enough "air".
Ok. They're ANSI rated so I was gonna get a pair for the Big Game as well as in the winter time for those days when its too cold for the paintballers too show up. :)
Something like THIS goes over your gun's muzzle, so that in case you accidentally shoot your gun in the safe zone (never do this), the BB won't come out of the barrel.
