Question for the police officers.

Im trying to get a small punk/metal show together that will be held in a small garage that feeds into an alley way in Orwigsburg PA, its nothing big just 2-3 bands and a small group of people. I dont know any local ordinance that will affect us speaking we are holding it long before the sound curfew.

Im looking for tips on talking to the local police about this, because I feel they should definitely know what is being planned.

Or if you have any other thoughts that would be relevant or helpful to my plans.

Seems to me this isn't myspace, nor is this a police/county forum, and it is not a band forum. Use stupid google and look up the laws in your county, stop being lazy.

Start by checking with your Township Building. Make sure you don't need a permit or anything. You will be surprised a what they come up with if they DO NOT want you doing this.

Typically, you can make all the noise you want between certain hours of the day. There is no "Uniform Loud Noise Act" in PA, so different municipalities can do whatever they want.

Check with the township you live in, or google "Noise ordinance <your township here>"

Like it has been said already, check with your township about noise ordinance laws. Also, check to see if you will need a permit.

I know the last time I worked a (small) open air concert, the organizers needed to have a permit, Fire Marshall had to do a walk through, police had to be notified of the gathering, its actually a good deal of work on the organizers part.

Its nothing big, and for the most part it will be contained in the garage which is moderately soundproofed. But thanks for the info, Im really hoping I wont need a permit im running short on time.
