I don't even know what you are referring to. Usually just clicking on the thread link takes me to the first unread.
What browser? Version? What OS?
Internet Explorer (newest version) and Vista. When I click a thread I always have to scroll all the way down or click to the last page but if you look at a new thread, there should be a button straight above the user name on the first post that says "View First Unread."

Yeah it does that for everyone. It's a drawback to the SEO plugin we have going. Because the threads are given word names (ex: http://www.c3airsoft.com/showthread.php/read-first-unread-post-19419.html?t=19419) instead of number codes, the forum sends you back ot the home page when it can't find the link.
In short, it's looking for a link that doesn't technically exist.
When I hit the "NEW POSTS" link in the header bar, I get a list of all threads with new posts in them. Then, to the immediate left of the thread title, there is a small icon (will vary based on the theme you are using) just mouse over it. It will say, something like "go to first unread post", click that. It will take you into the post to the first post that you haven't read within that thread.
Works for me.
Could it be Mac related that it doesn't work for you, Randy?
It works on all three of my computers here at home, and my work computer.
I use Style1_Fluid here at home, and Style 2 at work.
