how reliable?

How reliable are quick chargers. I found a quick charger at a hobby store that has a car cigarette lighter adapter that will charge my battery in 15-20 minutes. Are they pretty reliable? I was gonna buy a smart charger but why not spend the 10 extra bucks.

It's difficult to tell without a link to the actual charger... You want to get a charger where you can at least adjust the charge rate, and make sure it's a peak charger for NiCd/NiMH batteries.

Also, the battery thread might have some useful information.

Sorry I couldn't link it. Its at Hobbytown and not available online (at least not that they say or I can find).
It's used for our type batteries (pretty much the same kind they use in remote control helicopters and airplanes

I'll give you the same answer that Bracket did. It's really hard to tell you how good something is without a link to check it out.

Having come to this hobby from R/C airplanes and Helicopters, I can say that the LiPo batteries that I used in my electric helis, are nothing like the NiMH packs I use in my airsoft guns. I have a nice Triton charger that I used for my NiCd R/C battery packs, that I now use for charging my airsoft batteries. That charger is awesome and way overkill for simple NiMh packs.
The charger I used for balancing my helicopter LiPo packs uses totally different technology to adjust and monitor charge rate and peak detection.

I've recommended dozens of times, and I know others that disagree with me, but I recommend that you spend a few extra bucks and buy Intellect batteries. They charge better, and last longer than el cheapo packs of the same size/capacity.
