It might not be imperative to bring up, but I know these rules were put in place for a reason. Has this actually happened before in our community?
Quote:
DO NOT LIE ABOUT MILITARY SERVICE
If you have never served in the armed forces, do not say that you did. If you were a cook in the army, don't say you were a sniper. It is disrespectful to people that have served or are serving, and it's against the law. All claims of military service may be checked by forum members that are in the service. Bottom line: Airsoft is a game of honor, if you can't tell the truth about your life, you probably won't call your hits either. Don't lie about military service!

Don't you remember Victor, when we were both in the 'Nam?
/My dad used to tell girls on the beach that he and his life guard partner flew evac choppers in Vietnam...stupid Wildwood girls actually believed him too, he would have been about 14 at the time of the war...

You can always tell them apart IMO. Most people I have met that were in the service, especially the ones that were in combat, rarely talk about it, especially in detail. The "actors" tend to brag, and make up elaborate stories.
My dad was in Vietnam, and has told me a few choice tales, but one of my best friends was in Afganastan right after 9/11, and when I asked him about his Silver Star, he just said "ridge warfare".
Now one person I would like to hear stories from is my aunt. She worked for the State Department as a FSO, awarded several medals & awards, and was the first woman to serve on a peace keeping force in the Middle East - LINK (search Coronway, 3/4 down). I have heard a few, but there is still some things she is not, or will not talk about.
I'll echo what some of the other staff has said, but yes, we have had people come on here and claim to be Super Secret Special Forces Snipers, and refuse to answer any questions when asked about their credentials.
The one big thing people seem to forget on boards is that someone always knows someone else, and the more elite you claim to be, the shorter the branches tend to be when you start shaking the tree.
Besides, no one ever comes on here claiming they were a cook :)
