Uh, no. What they did was aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Not to mention they could have been shot by the cops.

The were stupid and deserve to be punished.

"I can understand protection of the students and stuff but expelling people is ridiculous over toy guns," said senior Domenick Fanire. "We're in Lincoln. There isn't any reason why anybody should fear somebody actually shooting somebody, ya know?"

I bet they thought that about Columbine and Virginia Tech, too. Well, before people were SHOT AND KILLED.

Idiots. If only people would use their heads occasionally. Is it so hard to think "Maybe there are people who can't tell the difference between airsoft & real steel. Maybe a fake guns can have REAL consequences." It always comes back to hurt the people who use them responsibly. Is there no solution?

Yes. An outright ban on replica firearms, toy guns, airsoft weapons, etc. But that would be devastating to our sport and therefore quite undesirable. The only other solution I can see is enacting laws like those recently passed in the UK: you must apply for a permit to become a "registered skirmisher" which will entitle you, if you're 18 or older, to purchase airsoft guns. Or the law can remain the same, with idiots brandishing toy guns in public scaring the Beelzebub out of people and getting themselves shot.

Either way, you're looking at tighter restrictions if we want some sort of resolution. None of us want to see a total airsoft ban because of these idiots.

That MP5 in the first article was no clear crossman job. Its a small pic but that could be a CA or TM. We can't throw all the blame to the cheapos at the big chains, any of our skirmish weapons could be mistaken for the real deal.
A little more discretion by the muppets in these stories would be the best thing for the airsoft community. We need good press but the only time we get media mention is when the imature or stupid people who pick these up for a 'bad-ass' effect go and wave them around. If you can't respect the fact you have a realistic looking gun and disregard safety and common sense you should go to jail.

/ I say old bean, whats the silver pistol in the second article? I like shiny stuff!
