Hello C3. I have found something I am kind of confused about and do not understand concerning hydration, and soda.
Recently I've been drinking Diet Pepsi (I'm tryin to watch the figure ) often and from what I've read here and what I understand is that soda dehydrates you. But, whenever I drink a glass or two of this Diet Pepsi, my piss is CLEAR! (If you are disturbed please excuse the language I can not find another way to say it).
I don't understand how that's possible. I haven't drank water since yesterday and it was only a small quick glass, and I drank probably 2 glasses of this Diet Pepsi today and I have the appearance of a hydrated person. Could it be possible that there's some chemical that makes pee clear in this soda? If you have any explainations please speak up.
The majority of the soda is made up of water, that would be why. The reason why soda is not as good of a thing to drink in relation to water is because along with the soda is all of the sugars or other artificial sweeteners among other things that aid in dehydrating you even quicker.
There's no special biochemical thing going on here, though if there were I'd definitely be intrigued.
My girlfriend's studying to be a nutritionist/dietician. To put it bluntly, all soft drinks, sweet sugary drinks, and anything else with high fructose corn syrup is bad for you. HFCS is a glucose derivative and is much sweeter than pure sugar and has the effect of making you crave sugar/hfcs/sweets even more, even if it is diet.
Also the Caloric content on bottles, even though it is 0, can be circumvented as the ingredients that were added to make it low in Calories, can be turned into Calories inside the body (and not ingested).
Your pee is probably clear due to the high water content. Keep in mind that because it's diet, you can't view it as being able to drink even more of it than regular soda. Keep it in moderation and you'll be fine. Be sure to supplement it with ACTUAL water though.
Edit: If I recall correctly, the tint of your pee also has to do with the amount of salt in your body as well as bile produced by your body. Clearer = better of course, but nothing beats water. Seriously, nothing.

Do not follow this diet. I know you mean well Marty, but the way to lose weight is to start eating lower calorie, but vitamin and nutrient rich foods all whilst starting an excersise regime to burn off the extra calories. If you don't eat, you'll be depriving yourself of these valuable nutrients.
If you're hungry, EAT. But eat something healthy. Instead of having a couple of cookies to sate your hunger, have a salad, or some fruit. But not eating is worse than eating junk food.
To test if you are really hydrated pinch the skin on your first knuckle of your middle finger (your punching knuckles). Pull the skin away from you about 1/2 inch from it's original position or as high as you can whilst keeping in mind your hand should be flat. Then release the skin from your grip if your skin returns to its original state without you being able to see anything you are hydrated and your skin is very elastic which is a good thing. If you can see your skin still trying to reach it's original position you are somewhat dehydrated and you need more water.
If it takes over a second for your skin to return to normal you could be harming yourself by not drinking enough water.
(My mother has studied and worked with nutrition and personal training for 21 yrs and has visited schools to talk to the kids about correct nutrition and the amount of water you should have daily)
Also take your weight and multiply it by .66. So I am 175--- 175x.66= 115.5 So I should have 115.5 ounces of water a day (128 ounces is 1 gallon)
Stay hydrated on hot days like these when playing airsoft!! haha

There is absolutely nothing wrong with snacking. Infact for proper metabolic proceses you should eat at least 8 meals a day (moderate to small meals). Keeping your metabolism running is the key to weight loss. Your quick fix diet may work because it is based on water. Fruits- primarily water. Water- primarily water. but when you do not feed your body regularly it goes into preserve mode and you actually lose less fat. Dont be a lazy ass, excercise and eat in moderation but frequently, especially right before bed. You need to feed your body before that 6- 8 hour fast we call sleep. That is why breakfast is called breakfast (you break up the fast). Calories are calories it does not matter when you eat them. Just avoid foods with high fat calories. The word calorie is unit of energy. Food= energy. Calories are good, fat calories are bad

HAHA, I drink soda WAY to much, and I know its bad for me, but its just so good. I hate how its like so addicting (to me anyway) and lately I have been telling myself DRINK WATER, but every time I have friends come over, I DRINK LOTS OF SODA then its gets me started again and it's hard to stop. I'm luckily not diabetic *knock knock* but I am worried if i keep it up, i will become one. Plus all I eat is food such as McDonalds, and other fast foods. I am 15 around 5'4" and way about 105-110 lb's.
PS. I do eat a lot of fruit and get about 1-2 hours of extra sleep, but dont eat to much vegetables (no I am not a kid and cry about them, I just ya know dont like them.)

I don't like vegetables much either, I eat constantly, I drain soda (when it's around) and I'm a little too lazy to play sports (other than rifle team, but that's not exactly physical now is it?). I'm trying to put on a little weight, but at least I'm skinny right?

Well atleast you are tall...Im 5'4 I get called Midget in my school ( in the beginning of 9th grade I was 4'11 towards the middle I was 5'3 now im 5'4. I want to get taller :( but like you said atleast we are both skinny, for all the food I eat, I should probably be 280 lbs.
