A found a new cool product so you won't have to buy new magazines. It's a magazine adapter by Freedom Art. It lets you use Tokyo Marui compatible magazines in the old M4/16 models although the bolt catch won't work. http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/Freedo...OD_p/58552.htm
mounts to your SOPMOD AEG, not the mags themselves. you only need one unit.
I still agree that this kinda defeats the purpose of the SOCOM though.

I wasn't aware that standard mags even fit into the SOPMOD/SOCOM (heh I never tried). So this be good news and this should certainly help with sales because that is the Number 1 complaint about the gun (I have to buy new mags! waaaahhh). Good find.
As far as defeating the purpose, nah. There's enough new features on the gun that a "bolt catch" actually falls down pretty low on the list.
I bought the mag adapter and it works well. It's kinda hard to get out when you want to take it out. I had to use pliers.
Anyway, Rjaniz or Coeus, what is the length of your tightbore barrel? There are two sizes. I can buy 407mm or 363mm but I'm not sure which will fit best.
How easy is it to change the Barrel and bucking....
I just ordered mine and plain on getting a prommy 6.01 and a prommy purple bucking!
This is the socom not that it makes a diff.

GTAM asked that earlier - it's pretty simple. The first bit of my breakdown covers it, basically just pop the front pin, pull the charging handle back and slide the front off - it's front wired so mind the connectors. Remember to pull the upper receiver ALL the way forward so it clears the extra long air nozzle.
Hop-up change is the same as normal.

No need to get a bucking. There is absolutely nothing wrong with one it comes with. Any gain will be minimal at best.
Also not entirely sure you'll need to upgrade the inner barrel either. Honestly never had an accuracy problem with the SOCOM using the stock barrel. My SOPMOD was upgraded, but don't forget... it was a first run.
Great reviews. Quick question though on your prior battery issues. Have you been using your trickle charger on the Sopmod batteries or only the "special TM charger" that TM advises you to purchase to go along with the battery? If you are using the "special TM charger" they advertise for the battery, how long have you been charging the battery for?
As stated in Randy's review the SOPMOD comes with an adaptor to hook it in via a standard mini plug. I used this to tap the SOPMOD batteries into my smart charger, if you were to use it on a regular trickle charger though I would go by the standard formula that is posted in the 411 on your Batteries thread.
You should only need to buy the specialty charger in the event that you don't already have a trickle or smart charger.
The SOCOM takes regular mini batteries though, so you don't have this problem there.
