UTG m4 commando review

I am reviewing the UTG M4 commando AEG. I purchased this rifle from pyramydair.com for $274.99. This rifle has been through many skirmishes and I think it is ready for a review.

--What comes inside the box/ first impressions--
When you open the box, the first thing you see is the full metal M4. I was like WOW this thing is heavy! It also includes a 300rd hi-cap magazine, 8.4v 1800mah NiCD, Standard wall charger, a winding tool for the magazine, cleaning rod, detachable adjustable iron sights, and, of course a front plastic grip. The battery that comes with it is not the greatest. It does not last very long, the first time I used it only lasted 1000 rounds. I upgraded to a 8.4 4200 MAH. The magazine included is all metal, hi cap holding 300 rounds.
--External--
This is one of the most durable AEG’s I have ever owned. The rifle has a rubber back plate for the adjustable stock, and a really nice rubber handle. The back plate constantly falls off, so you have to glue it on. I have lost it many times during skirmishes. This AEG can take a beating externally. Besides the back plate you won’t have problems with pieces falling off or breaking off.

--Internal--
Alright, for a UTG this gun has better internals then most of their guns. But the internals still are not the greatest. It has a metal gear box, upgraded mock TM gearbox, M120 spring, and adjust stable hop-up. The battery compartment is wired to the front under the RIS. This rifle is extremely hard to take apart. Out of the box it shoots about 370 FPS with .20g and about 15 bb’s a second. After about 9 months of use this baby is shooting 340 FPS with .23 and about 9 bb’s a second. Not too bad, but a low ROF. Another nice feature on this AEG is the full auto and single fire switch. This gun can take all TM M4 upgrades if you do so chose to upgrade it. I use TM high caps which work great. This AEG is accurate up to 55-60 yards

--Final--
For the price, I would recommend a different AEG. This rifle is about $80 dollars overpriced in my opinion. I have used this AEG often and have never had any major problems. Keep it clean and it will last you a while. But I do not see this rifle comparable to a TM or a Classic Army. This is a good beginner’s rifle if you want to have a good, solid looking AEG. I would rate this AEG’s performance at a 7/10

Good review, I thought it was helpful. Would you recomend the company UTG to other players wanting to buy an AEG?

Cool, that was the gun I was going to buy before my AGM M4. But I was unsure if it was a good gun or not. I feel like I should have baught that though. Plus it has full metal RIS which is nice. But my next gun will be a DPMS M4 ICS with a 2000mah num chuck battery but that is for Christmas.

Pierre Dog,
As far a recommending UTG, i would NOT go with their cheaper guns, they will break, the internals are plastic, and will fall apart. The M4 series is another story, they have better internals and will last ALOT longer. Honestly i really like this gun. its heavy though. its not going to break on my externally and it looks badass. Its just really expensive for what you get internally. The internals are a little better then echo 1's in my opinion. But i am sure this AEG is going to last me a long time through many skirmishes. So if you wanna spend the money, you will get that nice wow that gun looks nice factor. Honestly every time i go to Poco Loco with this gun, i get at least 4 kills a game, usually : )

M4A1 killer, if your going to get an ICS why not get a TM they last alot longer...Just curious to each his own : )

Okay thanks for the feedback.

I'm not interested in kill ratio, but please update the thread on how it holds up for you, I'd like to know how it does durability wise and how well your internals perform after some period of time.

Well I guess Either one would be fine. I mean TM is the way to go, but if he wants to go for ICS go for it! Me and many other C3 airsofters can vouch for TM, Great reliability and ROF. Sure they have low fps, but I would take low fps and ROF over high fps and low ROF any day . Also M4 a1 Killer, go ask RichJ about ICS. He's had 3 and 1 I think is about 5 years old and still going strong. He give you probably about 10 good reasons to get one I can guarantee you. Anyways they are both about the same price range, the m4 series at least.

gbake145 is on a distinguished road
I own a utg tactical. its a good gun and has served pretty well. I have had some issues with it considering the fps dropping. I never really did quite figure out what it was. I probably forgot to take the tension of the spring one time on accident even though I think I check it everytime. Either way I put a new spring in it and that solved the problem. They are very sturdy guns and perform well. They are a pretty reasonable price too. They wont completely break the bank for a high quality aeg. I would recoment UTG products to anyone thinking of getting one. I put a tightbore in my tactical too. It was really easy to do and not any troubles at all. The next thing I will probably purchase is a new hop up unit. Nice review by the way. Its nice to see people talking about UTG because it seems like they take a back sit sometimes to companies like TM and CA.
